Join The Conservation Alliance (TCA) for a discussion on the current state of America’s public lands and waters and ways brands and individuals can get involved in protecting them. TCA Executive Director, Paul Hendricks, will host a conversation with Chris Keyes, Founder and Executive Director of RE:PUBLIC, an independent newsroom covering public lands, and Rebecca Gillis, TCA’s VP of Government Affairs and Advocacy. Participants will discuss overall policy trends, specific issues, and share their insights on the best ways to defend the backbone of the outdoor industry.
Paul HendricksPaul Hendricks is the Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. Prior to TCA, Paul worked at Rivian and Patagonia where he helped build the companies’ climate, responsible sourcing, environmental advocacy, and philanthropic programs. He has also taught at the University of Colorado and UC Berkeley. While he grew up exploring the forests and lakes of Northern Michigan, he is now based in Golden, Colorado where he spends his time running, climbing, and exploring our public lands with his wife and two kids.

Rebecca Gillis is the Vice President of Government Affairs & Advocacy at The Conservation Alliance. In her role, she works alongside her colleagues and TCA members to build and activate advocacy networks to promote and meet the organization’s conservation goals across the country. She is based in Boulder, Colorado. Formerly, Rebecca was state and local government affairs manager for Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) also worked for former Governor John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock as a lead business development manager in their economic development agencies. Rebecca has a deep passion for the outdoors and is a firm believer in nature’s potential to heal human hearts, souls, and minds. She enjoys trail running, hiking, cross-country skiing, cycling, live music, speaking foreign languages, traveling (she’s been to six continents), and reading all the nonfiction she can get her hands on.

Chris is the president and founder of RE:PUBLIC. He was previously editor in chief of Outside magazine and the editorial director of Texas Monthly. Under his leadership, Outside was nominated for five National Magazine Awards for General Excellence, winning in 2013. Chris served as board president of the American Society of Magazine Editors from 2014 to 2018. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he recreates daily on public land.
