Participation on the trail is booming, but it is not evenly distributed. Despite the growth and excitement, many people still face real barriers to entry and belonging in outdoor spaces, and the entire industry has a role to play in changing that.
This session shares a case study led by the Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC) that tested what happens when known barriers are addressed intentionally through research, education, a practical toolkit, and supported in-person experiences. Panelists will unpack the importance behind this research, what it revealed, and how the resulting toolkit is already increasing participation, confidence, and momentum among new and returning trail runners.
This is a practical, no-hype conversation focused on what worked, what surprised us, and how outdoor brand leaders can immediately put these resources to use to help ensure trail’s growth does not leave people behind.
